The scale of subsidies being paid to Europe’s agricultural businesses has finally been laid bare – and not before time. New European Commission rules have compelled all 27 member states to disclose in precise detail just how £46.32billion has been distributed from the Common Agricultural Policy to 7.951million recipients.
